Our after school care and summer camps for kids in Magnolia are built for K–5 students who love to explore, create, and grow. With small-group programs rooted in play-based learning, we turn everyday moments into meaningful adventures—so kids build confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of learning.

Meet the Educator Behind Discovery Bay

Lara McKaye, lead educator and founder, brings over 15 years of experience in classrooms, camps, and afterschool settings. With a background in anthropology, international education, and mindfulness, Lara creates an environment where kids feel seen, safe, and inspired to grow. Her work is also shaped by a strong focus on global awareness and international citizenship, helping children build empathy, understanding, and a sense of connection to the wider world.

Discovery Bay After School Program

Afternoons become a playground for learning at Discovery Bay. Designed for K-5 students, our after school care program offers small-group activities that inspire critical thinking, creativity, and emotional development. Whether it's hands-on projects or outdoor play, we help kids thrive in a nurturing, engaging space close to home. The program is housed at the Magnolia Presbyterian Church, providing a warm, familiar setting right in the heart of the community.

Discovery Bay Summer Camp

Small Groups, Big Adventures
Looking for a Seattle summer camp that feels personal, fun, and inspiring? Our summer sessions are limited to just 4 kids per group, creating space for deeper connection and exploration. Each day includes a blend of art, science, nature, and neighborhood adventures all led with care and intention.

Discovery Bay After School Program

Magnolia, Seattle
Discovery Bay’s after-school program offers enriching afternoons for kids in K–5th grade with hands-on projects, outdoor play, and small-group learning. We focus on creativity, confidence, and social-emotional growth in a warm, supportive environment where children can unwind and thrive after school.

Activities include art, STEM challenges, games, reading time, and outdoor adventures. We follow the kids—when curiosity sparks a new idea, we explore it together in a safe, familiar community setting at Magnolia Presbyterian Church.

Full-day summer sessions for kids entering K–5th grade built around exploration, making, and play. Children split into Otters (K–2nd) and Seals (3rd–5th) for developmentally appropriate experiences, with daily time built in for mixed-age collaboration and fun.

Ratio: 7:1 child-to-educator
Weekly themes range from Maps & Transportation to Birds, Pollinators, Performing Arts, Puget Sound, Entrepreneurship, Cooking, and Arts & Crafts. But we're responsive, not rigid. If they get excited about something unexpected, we dive in with them.
